Challenge
The Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority (MEKH) has been supported by a number of separate IT systems. It has become essential to integrate and modernise these systems and to meet changing digital requirements. The Authority had to respond simultaneously to a rapidly changing technological environment, increasing cybersecurity expectations and requirements for sustainable operation.
Solution
We developed a high-level IT Development and Operation Strategy that:
- sets out the main directions for digital transformation,
- emphasises the implementation of Green IT and energy-efficient infrastructure,
- covers infrastructure and network development, workstation and application modernisation,
- defines the framework for data asset management, digitisation and the development of electronic administration,
- strengthens cybersecurity and business continuity compliance.
A detailed roadmap has been drawn up to accompany the strategy, outlining short-, medium- and long-term measures.
Result
The strategy enables the Office to:
- follow a clear, multi-year development path,
- prepare for the development of integrated, scalable and future-proof IT systems,
- strengthen its customer focus and digital services,
- enhance the conditions for secure and sustainable operation.
This document provides a framework for MEKH to consciously prepare for the technological and organisational challenges of the coming years, thereby laying the foundations for its future digital operations.
