Center drilling robot cell – Siemens

We implemented a fully automated center drilling robot cell for Siemens, which handles the engraving, center drilling, inspection, and palletizing of sawn workpieces using two ABB robots and the integration of existing machines.
The central element of the cell control is our proprietary SmartFactory system.

The role of SmartFactory

  • Receiving manufacturing parameters from ERP: product size, material quality, gripper type, and all technological data are automatically received from the enterprise resource planning system.
  • Finished product reporting: every finished piece manufactured and placed on a pallet is automatically sent back to ERP with the current pallet position and other metadata.
  • Logging of errors and downtime: all events in the cell – errors, downtime, engraving or drilling problems – are logged and reported in real time.
  • Real-time process monitoring: live data, statuses, and diagnostic information are displayed on the HMI SmartFactory screen.

Result With the integration of SmartFactory, we delivered a fully data-driven, traceable and stable robot cell that automatically adapts to size changes, accurately logs events and has high availability.
