Automation of foaming robot cell – Polytec

We implemented the full automation of a two-robot foaming production cell for Polytec. The system handles the processes of mold separation, IMC application, and foaming through 10 cabins, using 7-axis ABB robots mounted on a GÜDEL track.
The central element of the cell’s control and data flow is our proprietary SmartFactory system.

Key features of SmartFactory

  • Field communication: Real-time control and data exchange between the PLC, the two robots, the cabins, the extraction system, the sample dispenser, and all peripherals.
  • Server-side communication: Automatic retrieval of production parameters, reporting of manufactured parts, recipe management per cabin.
  • User interface: Live statuses, error handling, feedback per cabin, and online graphs for continuous monitoring of cell production data and process indicators.
